Expressive Arts and Design
Leadership Team
Staff: Mrs Cameron & Mrs Hill
As a creative and forward thinking school, we strive to provide an all-round education of the highest quality for each and every child. Studying expressive arts and design gives our young people the skills and abilities to engage positively and creatively, with the world around them. At Treales C of E Primary, we are mindful that the children belong to a village community within a largely rural environment. We are therefore mindful to encourage the children to have an outward look on the world of art, design and music. It is our intention that the children will be given the opportunities to engage with the world around them through the media of music, visual art, design and technology.
At Treales C of E Primary, we follow the guidance of the National Curriculum and EYFS Framework in parallel with the support of Charanga (Lancashire music service) for music, the Design and Technology Association and Access Art. We encourage children to use their creativity and imagination, to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. The children study the work of both past and present, artists, designers, musicians ensuring they have a thorough overview of historical as well as current art and music and they learn to have an appreciation of the impact expressive arts has on the wider world.
We make full use of our beautiful surroundings to enhance the learning experience of our children. Additionally, we offer a wide range of clubs and extra-curricular activities across all age groups and areas of expressive arts and design.
We want them to become confident, creative, analytical learners who are able to express their individuality, through whichever media they choose. Children will develop an appreciation of the different art forms using their own voice and body.
