Learning And Growing In The Presence Of God

PE and Sport Premium

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Sports Funding

For the budget year 2020-2021, we received extra funding to spend on P.E.and sport.

Schools are encouraged to offer a programme which includes high quality physical education as part of the curriculum; enough competitive school sport opportunities for those young people who want to take part, as well as activities designed to meet the needs of the least-active young people.

The aims of the funding are:

  • To engage as many children in P.E. and sport.
  • To improve teacher confidence in teaching different areas of the subject.
  • To improve the resources available for curricular and extracurricular activities.
  • To lead an active, happy and healthy lifestyle.

Swimming

From 2017 to 2018 academic year, there has been a new condition requiring schools to publish how many pupils within their year 6 cohort are meeting the national curriculum requirement to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations. At Treales CE School we endeavour to achieve this goal for all children. As a result we offer ‘school swimming sessions to all children from Year 3 to Year 6.

Schools are allocated a sum of money, called the Primary PE and Sport Funding to support all children and improve the quantity, quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.  The allocation is calculated according to the intake of the school, and the school must decide how best to use the money to improve the breadth and quality of PE and sport provision, including increased participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

We decided to use this money as follows:

  • To employ specialist teachers to work alongside teachers and teaching assistants to increase their subject knowledge in PE.
  • To buy into the Wyre and Fylde School Sports Partnership.
  • Employ specialist support for planning and assessment of PE across the school.
  • Provide training in PE and sport delivery to the PE subject leader in order to further increase the quality of sports delivery to children throughout the entire school.
  • Forge stronger links with the local high school to further enhance sports provision.
  • Provide training for midday supervisors to introduce games at break and lunch times.

Impact.

  • There has been a significant increase in participation in after school sports clubs with all pupils having access to high quality sport coaching opportunities.
  • There has been a measured increase in participation and success in competitive school sports across all junior years with every single junior pupil taking part in a competitive sports event across the year

How will this impact on our school vision of every child enjoying and succeeding in sport and developing a healthy lifestyle?

  • Every child in the junior years will have the opportunity to regularly experience competitive sport in competitions against other schools., as well as within our own school.
  • Every child will better develop their key sports skills and have a wider opportunity to practice and develop these in high quality sporting games and matches.
  • Every child will learn and really understand the huge impact sport and a healthy lifestyle can have on their quality of life and their over all personal happiness and achievement.
  • Every child will understand the clear link between a healthy lifestyle and good mental health and the huge benefits this will lead to in their adult lives.
  • Every child will learn how to cope with competitive situations as well as how to handle victory and defeat in life with maturity, composure and dignity.
  • Every child will understand the power of sport and health to bring people from all walks of life, faiths and backgrounds together in a joyful and life giving activity.
